j'aime l'aubergine

My bridesmaids threw me for a loop on Sunday and chose aubergine for their dresses. I have never been a fan of purple and had been leaning towards chocolate brown. My sister, who is ahead of the curve on anything fashion related, went right for the purples when the fabric swatches came out. She had been thinking about my previous color selections and thought that deep purple would complement it well.

Here is my old board:

Here is the color sample from the Simple Silhouettes website (where we are ordering our dresses from):

And here is what happens when they collide:

Clockwise from the top: Livia Cetti bouquet, K-Amato necklace, tablescape from Oh, How Charming!, MS cake, Jennifer Behr hairpiece, drinks from InStyle Weddings, Oh, How Charming!, candles from MS, invite from Ceci NY, centerpiece via Brown Turtleneck Sweater, Vera Wang gown via Brooklyn Bride, Simple Silhouettes dress, K-Amato earrings

My all-time favorite bouquet already had aubergine in it, which validated my decision. What do you think?

  1. I like it! I'm a HUGE non-fan of purple, but it actually all looks REALLY good together. It's a good anchoring colour!

  2. it's perfect. i love it!

  3. It's beautiful, and like ley, I'm normally a non-fan of purple.

  4. It's a great color- one I used with my bridesmaids too. That was the only place I used it though besides my shoes and jewelry. I fell in love with it and have been on a semi-purple kick since January. I wasn't a big purple fan previously.

  5. I love it - it's beautiful.
I'm trying to incorporate it into my wedding in small touches as well!

  6. Check out Emahlee's blog, she is also doing an aubergine scheme

  7. thank you all! it has really been growing on me... :)

  8. Aubergine is beautiful and it looks great in your boards. I featured an aubergine invitation on my blog you should check it out.

  9. i'm using aubergine in my wedding too! it's so much more vibrant than brown- your board looks great!
